A new name for our Diploma Programme

As Amala scales to grow our impact in 2024 and beyond, we have taken the decision to rename our Diploma Programme to better reflect our mission. The Amala High School Diploma will henceforth be known as the Amala Global Secondary Diploma (GSD).

The name change follows comprehensive research and consultations with Amala team members, pathway providers and students and alumni in Jordan and Kenya. In particular, Amala team members in Jordan and Kenya acted as advisors in this process, providing key local context to ensure that the new name is both culturally appropriate and comprehensible in the countries where we work.

The GSD will more accurately represent the identity of the programme. ‘Global’ reflects that the Diploma is designed to suit the needs of youth living in different parts of the world and to reflect the variety of pathway opportunities students pursue after graduating. In the contexts in which we work, ‘secondary’ is a better understood term than ‘High School’.

We are excited about the greater clarity and stronger sense of identity the change of name brings as we develop and grow and develop the programme in 2024 and beyond.
