Sky School partners with SOS Children’s Villages Lebanon

Sky School is thrilled to announce our new partnership with SOS Children’s Villages Lebanon.

Through SOS Children’s Villages Lebanon’s Education in Emergencies project, Sky School courses such as ‘Social Entrepreneurship’, ‘Peace-building’, and ‘Maths for Change’ will be delivered to 400 Syrian refugees and Lebanese youth in the Bekaa Valley in 2019.

SOS Children’s Villages in Lebanon is a non-profit organisation and a member of the International Federation of SOS Children’s Villages, who support the right of children who are deprived of parental care or at risk of losing it by providing them with family-based care and education.

Sky School and SOS Children’s Villages in Lebanon are united in our mission to to help children and youth in need to shape their own futures and communities, and we are very excited about our future collaboration.

Talking about why SOS Children’s Villages Lebanon chose Sky School as one of their partners for their Education in Emergencies Project, - Project Manager Nadine Abdul Sater Araji said ‘Initiating a partnership with Sky School came after thoughtful search for service providers who share our objectives and aims of supporting underprivileged children and youth living in difficult situations, through innovative and high standardised criteria […]. The team’s excitement is emerging out of the idea of providing qualitative educational support, as a basic right to all children and youth across the world, regardless of their situations and living contexts.”

In preparation to launch the first Sky School courses in Lebanon, Co-founders Polly Akhurst and Mia Eskelund Pedersen delivered an in-person training session for ten SOS facilitators to equip them with the skills to run transformational learning programmes in collaboration with Sky School, starting in January 2019.

Elaborating on her excitement for the programme, Nadine Abdul Sater Araji said ‘Before coming across Sky School, I thought that this kind of education was a privilege. Now I think it is a right for all'.
