The Amala High School Diploma launches in Amman, Jordan

The last three years have been quite a journey for Amala. We have grown from a team of two into a worldwide community, seen 300+ young people participate in an Amala short course, and have even had a name change! Now, together with some of the best schools in the world and 150 expert educators, we are excited to finally launch the first international high school diploma programme that is tailored to young people who are refugees and their host communities, the Amala High School Diploma.

We are proud to announce that this spring we will launch the Amala High School Diploma  for the very first time in Amman, Jordan. Not only will it allow young people, who have few other opportunities to continue their high school education, to graduate with a diploma, but it will offer skills and competencies for life that will enable students to make a positive difference in their communities and in the world.

The Amala High School Diploma is a 15 month, accelerated learning programme that aims to give a well-rounded and rigorous education to enable students to explore a range of areas across and beyond subject disciplines. It is designed to help students develop as active, responsible and compassionate problem-solvers and creative innovators.  It is a modular programme, designed in partnership with UWC South East Asia, to offer both breadth and depth in five key areas: 1. Social innovation, 2. Peacebuilding. 3. People and Societies, 4. Literacies, Arts and Cultures, 5. Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Included in the Diploma is a guidance counselling programme to prepare students for the pathways and opportunities they will take after graduation.

Applications in Amman, Jordan are now open, and classes are scheduled to begin in June. We will also be launching the Amala High School Diploma in Kakuma, Kenya later this year.  We look forward to warmly welcoming our first cohort of students!
